‘I have been drawing since I was a child. This beautiful and simple activity has given me so much pleasure and surprise. It sometimes makes the difference between one state of mind and another. I love drawing it is fresh, relaxing, enhances the moment of being with oneself, both humbling and inspiring. I love children’s drawings, other artists’ drawings, everybody’s drawings. Drawing is one of the greatest joys of being an artist.’

‘I like to portray emotion in my work. I work in steel, stone, wood and pewter but my preferred medium is bronze. Being a molten metal it is infinitely variable and can take any shape the sculptor wishes without the restrictions of the grain of wood or the edges of stone. The surface can vary from rough cast to a mirror finish and with patination and polish light can be made to dance over the surface, highlighting aspects of the sculpture that can be both pleasing and surprising’
